Here we are setting up camp at the Royal Gorge KOA.
Not many people this early. It is only late June. We are going to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in the morning! |
This is Buckskin Joe Frontier Town and
Railway, a souveineer shop and scale railway to see the Royal
Gorge. You can see one of the suspension towers from the bridge
over the Royal Gorge in the background. We stopped to talk to a bunch of hot rodders in for a rally. One of them mentioned how much fun he and his young son were having. Dad said it is even more fun traveling with them when they are grown up! That made me feel good. {=-{> |
You can see the tower better in this close
up. That is where we are heading! |
Beside the parking lot for the Royal Gorge
is one of the old Denver and Rio Grande engines that used to run
through the Gorge. |
There was a deer under it when we came up,
but we didn't get a photo. |
This sign explains a lot about the Royal
Gorge. If you want to know more there is a Denver and Rio Grande site that has a lot of old photos and other information. These are just a few of the sites with info on the Royal Gorge. For more try Google. |
